I have recently moved to a new apartment. As part of that, I threw out a pile of od magazines. I had not even looked at any of them for years. This reminded me that magazines are extremely wasteful: I used to spend quite a bit of money on buying them, then reading them once, and storing them somewhere in my home.

It's been a couple of years at least since I stopped buying magazines. I have not missed them. I get all the news, reviews, opinion pieces, etc, online now, and I and the planet are both better off that way.

This doesn't just apply to magazines, of course: during the move I discovered a lot of useless junk in my home. Magazines are just the most obvious example of such.

I threw the magazines into recycling. The rest of the junk I'll have to think about: some of it is, for example, still-working computer parts, which would be a shame to throw away, but which I certainly don't want to store anymore.
